THE KRIMML WATERFALLS ARE APPROXIMATELY 400,000 VISITORS PER YEAR TO THE TOP 10 MOST VISITED TOURIST ATTRACTIONS IN AUSTRIA.
The refreshing mist of Krimmel waterfalls surrounded by the beautiful scenery of the Hohe Tauern National Park is fun for young and old. Everything you need to know about the waterfalls can be found at the information point at the entrance to the waterfalls.
The Krimmler Ache is the origin of the Krimmler waterfalls. It begins at the end of the Krimmler Achental and first gently flows through about 20 km of flat alpine pastures, before reaching the valley exit as a thundering glacier stream and tumbling down the mighty steps of the Krimmler waterfalls.
The catchment area of the Krimmler Ache is 110.7 km2, around 12% of which is glaciated. This makes the Krimmler Ache a typical glacier creek with strongly changing water flow. For example, 30 to 40 times the amount in February flows in the months of June and July. Since the meltwater from the glacier gate to the waterfalls (= 18 km) takes
9 to 12 hours, the maximum daily runoff occurs between 9 p.m. and midnight.
THE WATERFALL PATH BRINGS GUESTS FROM ALL OVER THE WORLD UP CLOSE TO THE KRIMML WATERFALLS.

- JAGA JUMP 1220 M
“… two rock capitals face each other here, they are only separated by a chasm of a few fathoms, which was once said to have been only 5 Schuh. Centuries … have widened and … washed out this rock channel. A game shooter pursued by a hunter is said to have dared the dangerous leap over it, and so, with the great severity of the laws of that time against robbers, saved freedom and life. I would prefer to call this gruesome chasm the game shooter jump. ”(Kürsinger, 1838) (fathom [= approx. 1.90m] = 6 shoes [= feet])
- JUNG PULPIT 1210 M
Ernst Jung, Kirchen an der Sieg, chairman of the DuOeAV. He, too, was very committed to the financing of the waterfall path in the entire association.
- SENDTNER PULPIT 1170 M
Theodor Sendtner, Munich, chairman of the DuOeAV. He got the funding for the waterfall path from 1879.
- RAIN PULPIT 1150 M
- RIEMANN KANZEL 1110 M

- KÜRSINGERPLATZ 1070 M
Named after Ignaz von Kürsinger, keeper of Mittersill. Builder of the first waterfall path around 1835 – a staircase on the
left bank of the Ache up to the upper edge of the lowest fall, so travelers could see more of the Krimml waterfalls without much effort.
The lowest waterfall can be reached from the parking lot in 10-15 minutes. From there the serpentine waterfall path leads to the uppermost waterfall (walking time approx. 1.15 hours) and further into the Krimmler Achental. Lookout pulpits allow spectacular views of the roaring water masses of the Krimml Waterfalls. You can find out all you need to know at the information point, and a large selection of literature, DVDs and much more is available at the PES information point. Access to the Kürsingerplatz was designed to be handicapped accessible.
“The principle of all things is water,
because water is everything and everything returns to water.”
(Thales of Miletus, 624 – 546)
Our vantage point
is closed from October 27th. You can visit the lowest waterfall at any time!
Seat sculptures by Christian Hitsch
For a comfortable stay at the Krimml Waterfalls, the sculptor Christian Hitsch designed several granite seats that fit harmoniously into the landscape at Kürsingerplatz.
New perspectives – “Jagasprung” viewing platform
The newly built “Jagasprung” viewing platform opens up new perspectives on the Krimml Waterfalls. In the midst of the waterfalls you can feel the imposing power of the water.
Experience information point
The information point at the entrance to the waterfalls was designed to be particularly attractive by Mr. Andreas Zangl. The piano keys that can be pressed create a water feature that simulates the waterfalls in different conditions and is particularly popular with young visitors.

Kitzbühel resort is a vast skiing area with 170km of groomed slopes and 32km of off-piste routes that connect several villages; the biggest being Jochberg and Kirchberg. Thanks to some pretty fast lifts and a relatively new gondola stretching across a wide valley, it’s easy to ski the different areas in one day and makes for some excellent touring around. The mountain and ski map can be a bit confusing at first – lifts are grouped by letters based on their location. But once you start to find your way around there’s some awesome skiing and boarding to be had. One of the great things about the runs is that there is often an easy and a hard way down, meaning groups of varying abilities don’t have a hard time riding the same lifts together. Most visitors staying in Kitzbühel will catch the Hahnenkamm gondola from town and then continue to travel up to skiing the Pengelstein area. There are some awesome, long, tree-lined runs down to Kirchberg and the smaller villages of Aschau and Skirast while the further away areas of Wurzhöhe, (connected to Pengelstein by the impressive 3S gondola) Bärenbadkogel and Resterhöhe areas are sunny and less crowded. Just make sure you leave enough time to get back across the valley if you’re staying at Kitzbühel. Advanced skiers will find some great steep skiing under the Steinbergkogel and Ehrenbachöhe lifts and plenty of other stashes of powder off-piste (if the conditions are good). There’s endless terrain to keep all levels of intermediates happy, including on the Kitzbüheler Horn side of the mountain. There’s a beginner nursery with free lifts in town at the base of the Hahnenkamm so given it’s so low it’s prone to poor snow conditions. When there’s no snow, beginner lessons are taken up on Kitzbüheler Horn and it has some great intermediate slopes to progress to – the drawback of the Horn being its location away from the main slopes. In summary Kitzbühel is not ideal for beginners. With our central location there is a ring bus that takes you from Snowbunnys Hostel direct to the Lift Stations at the Hahnenkamm or Hornbahn, alternatively it is a 5 minute walk to eitther.
Being in the centre of Kitzbuhel we are close to pubs, nightclubs, restaurants and only five minutes walk from the Hahnenkamm ski lift. SnowBunnys caters to the budget orientated holidaymaker.
